Senior 2014. Having been involved in the Express newspaper for three years now, I have taken the slight interest I once had in journalism and made it into something I could pursue a career in. Journalism and writing have always been passions of mine and I look forward to informing students, teachers, administrators and parents of the news at SJHHS as Editor-in-Chief once again this year.

Students are always able to visit Kessler or Jordheim during the schoool day to talk about their problems. help them academically, or just de-stress. Kessler and Jordheim work with all students to help them face hardships of high school life, impacting many students for the better.

BEEP BEEP: Team 3476 Code Orange, a robotics team based out of Irvine, CA, travelled to Beijing, China to participate in the World Adolescent Robotics Competition. The team, in alliance with two other Chinese teams, won the championship award.

LOUD AND PROUD: Gabrielle Heckler (11) and Madison Wyatt (10) read the morning announcements into a phone that allows their words to be projected throughout the entire campus. Their distinguishable, peppy voices light up classrooms every morning as students become informed of school news. A tedious daily routine is given a compelling twist as Heckler and Wyatt find new ways to make listening to the morning announcements an entertaining experience for students.

INTO THE WILD… SORT OF: Cameron Tilmont (12) and Nicolena Calderelli (12) sit in a grass field to write in their journals and feel inspired by the nature around them. For ERWC, the senior english class, students read articles about the book “Into The Wild” written by John Krakauer and exercise their poetic writing skills by observing how the main character, Chris McCandless, sees nature in a more abstract way. The english classes went on a hike on the trails around school to get a feel for the free-spirited ways of McCandless.
