Throughout the school day, students handle absences and tardies at the attendance office. While the pile of absences is steadily increasing due to a variety of factors affecting students lives, the average daily attendance decreases.

Choir Goes Global with Vatican Performance
Proudly posing with the 2024 novel "James," Aliso Niguel High School English teacher Kelsey Torres is the mastermind behind the book's approval within the Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD). "A lot of books on the New York Times Best Seller list are fun to read, but they aren’t 'art' in the sense that a book like this is art," said Torres.

Congressman Mike Levin of California’s 49th Congressional District spoke to constituents in the SJHHS theater on March 16. During the town hall meeting, Levin addressed a range of issues that impact his constituents. His office commented that while funding should remain stable for CTE programs through the fiscal year of 2025, there are concerns that these programs will need to be reauthorized by Congress or be cut.

Sydney Hogancamp, Sports Editor
Sydney Hogancamp is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and this is her third year in The Express Newspaper. She is a bilingual student, being fluent in both Spanish and English, and she is the Spanish and  Sports Editor for The Express. She plays for the San Juan Hills girls varsity flag football team. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as playing club flag football. She hopes to pursue a career in the sports industry.
Sofia Bello
Sofia Bello, Arts & Entertainment
Sofia is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and is returning for her fourth and final year here on The Express. She has a strong passion for reading, baking, and could listen to music all day. She loves the color pink, watching sunsets, and spending time with her best friend. In the future she hopes to study criminal psychology and criminal justice as well as own a fashion line one day. Inside of  school she is a part of NHS, CSF, Creative writing club, and Publishing club. She cannot wait for another year full of new friendships, fun, and spreading the voices of her community. 
Gabriella Bello
Gabriella Bello, News Editor
Gabriella Bello is a junior and entering her third year on The Express Staff, taking on the role of the News Editor this year. She is excited to be back to collaborate with the team and enhance her journalism skills in order to help educate the student body. Her interests are creative writing (mostly poetry), traveling, movie-watching, listening to music, spending time in nature, and hanging out with family/friends.  Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering at her Church and Mission Hospital. Gabriella hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, currently looking into neurology! She is also passionate about continuing her writing and publishing more of her work after high school as well.
