The Stallion of the Year award is supposed to be given to the student that embodies school spirit and RFTB. This year San Juan Hills had 45 teachers submit nominations for Stallion of the Year. It was the first year in SJHHS history that all nominees for Stallion of the Year have been of the same gender. The criteria provided to staff when making nominations included the following:
Senior student
Involvement in school activities
Demonstrates strong leadership and citizenship
Academic achievement
In addition to these criteria, finalists were expected to embody exceptional school spirit and have made a meaningful contribution to the positive culture of our campus.
These students commonly show school spirit through things like Link crew, ASB, being on sports teams, leading clubs, taking college level classes, volunteering, and many other activities.
After nominations were submitted, The five students who received the highest number of staff votes advanced to the final round.
The interviewing process is the final round. The 5 nominees each separately get interviewed by a board of teachers and staff. During these interviews students are asked about their accomplishments, leadership skills, character, impact on other students, and dedication to their community.
Following the interviews, one student is selected as the recipient for the Stallion of the Year award, recognizing them as a model representative of the values and spirit of San Juan Hills High School.

Charlotte is a freshman this year at SJHHS, a first timer in the newspaper staff. She is involved in Concert Choir and the Girls Golf team. If she finds a good book you won’t find her without it. In her free time, you can find her listening to music, shopping, hanging out with friends, or at the beach. She can’t wait to find out what this year will hold.
