Bieber fever is back and stronger than ever.
Over Coachella weekend one and two, Justin Bieber proved to the world his musical prowess.
His Coachella announcement drew in thousands of fans flocking to Indio Valley for what social media has claimed as “Bieberchella.” Previous to Coachella, Justin Bieber had not performed for a crowd this large live since his Justice World Tour in 2022. His Coachella set was highly anticipated, leading to one of the most packed crowds of the weekend.
On stage, Bieber had only himself and his laptop. Searching music videos off of YouTube, Bieber performed while videos of his younger self played from the screen.
Throughout his set, Bieber asked for song requests from his live audience, searched them up on YouTube and proceeded to sing alongside his past self. Bieber played songs from his early days including “Baby,” “Favorite Girl,” and “Never Say Never,” drawing a parallel between his childhood fandom and current fame.
This connection between the Justin Bieber that sparked such a large fanbase from around 15 years ago to the current, more mature performer on stage made the experience feel like such a special and unique show.
The simplicity of Bieber’s set, no backup dancers, or elaborate production, and his sole reliance on his work and vocals stood out in the sea of performances. This intimate connection between him and his fans proved to the music world, critiques, and his audience alike that Justin Bieber needs no theatrics.
“This was how all of us original Beliebers first experienced him, surfing YouTube videos in barely 360p; the concept just worked,” said Vogue Magazine.
After years of mental health struggle, drug addiction, and explotation by both the media and the industry, fans across the board were extremely touched by Bieber’s wide and radiant smile, and obvious love of performing on stage during Coachella.
Audiences across the board root for a redemption story, and Bieber’s performance gave just that. Seeing him comeback with such passion for music and performance after years avoiding the public eye shows the importance of resilience, and reconnecting with passions despite hardships.
