Natalie Varterian, Staff Writer

Natalie Varterian is currently a senior at San Juan Hills High School. This is her first year as a member of The Express Newspaper and she will be covering stories on dance. She has joined newspaper because she enjoys writing, taking pictures, and would like to be more involved in school.  Natalie is very outgoing and likes to work with others. Throughout her years in high school, she has been involved in  dance, clubs, and likes to attend all school events. Natalie enjoys music, photography, and hanging out with friends.

Kylie Lugo (12) and Kelsey Hampson (12) perform a duet together at the Spring Choir Concert. While most songs were sung in English, some were in languages such as Italian and German, which require weeks of practicing pronunciations of words along with learning the melodies and harmonies.

Kasey Kessler and Jenna Jordheim are very friendly and open counselors. Students are always able to visit Kessler or Jordheim during the schoool day to talk about their problems. help them academically, or just de-stress. Kessler and Jordheim work with all students to help them face hardships of high school life, impacting many students for the better.

Dancers Gabriella Mcadam (11), Cortney Chase (11), Niayla MIller (11), Laurel Lechuga (11), and Olivia Kato (10) participated in staged competition for the popular TV show, Dance Moms. Although the competition was rigged so the stars of the show won, the girls still had a blast performing for the show.

SJHHS students are making an effort to get to know their new principal and would like to hear more from her. Smalley reaches out to them by saying, I hope that kids feel like I am approchable and that they cn come up and talk to me and share ideas with me. The relationship built between Smalley and the students will lead our school to be more connected.
