Athletes from this year’s graduating class of 2026 publicly sign, committing to upcoming college sports. With a total of nine well-decorated athletes, Piper Gravdal, Ava De Filippo, Leelo Navaraev, Matthew Sinon, Reid Gordon, Cami Wersching, Garrett Gandolfo, Ryder Rasmussen, and Braeden Valenzuela take part in this event of the fall season.
On November 12th, high schools nation-wide hosted a showcase for athletes where they signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) of recruits who have been invited by an athletic aid with a written offer, to represent a collegiate sports team. Within the seven days of open ¨Signing Period¨ for each sport, the athlete must document an official agreement to the program.
These athletes gather in the gym where family and friends are welcome, to sign an official document confirming their decision to participate in said schools athletic program after enrolling.
¨It`s definitely going to be a new challenge, and I won`t be playing with the people that I have been, but I`m really excited and I think it`ll be really fun,¨ said Piper Gravdal.
Finding the school that matches with their education, athletic, and lifestyle, seniors can invite a collegiate coach to game or meet, hoping that it might introduce the idea of officially committing to that school`s program.
After a successful recruitment, coaches notify the athletes of acceptance. An official document is issued from the University and program coaches as a seal. Gathering with qualifying class peers, these scholar athletes unite and make a final decision to declare commitment.
This signing acts as a symbol of pride and excitement for upcoming opportunities provided by the university attended. Team members, friends, and family of the featured athletes are also welcomed to attend and experience this signing in the gym. Loved ones are encouraged to join in support and encourage this major decision.
