Throughout league play, the Stallions consistently dominated opponents such as El Toro, Aliso Niguel and Capistrano Valley, earning multiple sweeps during both home and away matches. Their strong communication and consistency helped them remain undefeated in the Sea View League. While most league opponents failed to take a single set against San Juan, Dana Hills managed to win one before San Juan secured the match.
“The last [league] game that we had against Dana Hills stood out to me because of several reasons, with how it was our last league game to win as champions and how hard we played to earn that,” said Varsity Captain Logan Haik (11).
Last year, varsity volleyball tied for first place in their league, so after beating Dana Hills in the final league game of the 2026 season, it was memorable to be considered the sole first place winners.
“I felt like being league co-champions like last year was not sufficient and I wanted to prove that we deserved being the only team with the title of ‘league champs,’” said Haik.
After an undefeated season in the Sea View League, Varsity Boys Volleyball was eliminated in a competitive first round in Division 2 of CIF against San Clemente High School losing 12-15 in the fifth set on April 28.
The Stallions were already familiar with San Clemente after facing the team earlier in a non-league home match and again during a tournament at Tesoro High School. Each additional set was filled with more and more tension due to both teams’ heightened competitiveness. Additionally, in the CIF matchup, San Clemente won the first two sets before San Juan responded by taking the next two, forcing a decisive fifth set and showing an intense matchup. “It felt like a lot more pressure to win… from how everyone was acting before the game and especially how it could have been the last game of the season and potentially the last game ever for the five seniors in the program,” said Haik.
“I’m grateful I’ve been able to play alongside [them] and [I’m grateful] for the time I’ve had with them. And as no one expected us to win against such a strong team, it was great to see how hard we fought to make it a five set game” continued Haik.
Although the season ended earlier than the team hoped, these athletes expressed pride in what they accomplished together. Finishing undefeated in league play and earning sole possession of the Sea View League title marked a memorable season for the program.
