The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will be facing off in the 58th Super Bowl on February 11th. Currently, the 49ers hold 5 Super Bowl titles, while the Chiefs hold 3.

Watched by over 115 million people, the Super Bowl is one of the most watched events every year. Two teams have a chance in the 58th edition of the big game to lift the Lombardi Trophy. Those teams are the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

Football is known for having die-hard fans and fanbases. At SJHHS, there are student-fans who have high intelligence of football strategy.

“The Chiefs are good but I think the Niners (49ers) just have to stop tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Rashee Rice. They also need to contain quarterback Patrick Mahomes and we should have a good chance,” said 49ers fan Tevan Dawson.

It’s arguable that 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is the best player in the NFL, leading the league with over 1,400 yards and tied for the most touchdowns this season by any position. Even though he is one of the main threats to the Chiefs’ defense, Chiefs fan Tanner Ohmes says that if they can lock down McCaffrey and pressure the San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy,  Kansas City will have a chance.

“If our defense can stop Christian McCaffrey and make sure to put lots of pressure on Brock Purdy, I think that will give us a really good shot at winning against a powerhouse team like the 49ers,” said Ohmes.

Although the Chiefs have a solid defense at the moment, teacher and football coach Nicholas Stine has suggestions to tear apart the Chiefs’ defense.

“We need to utilize double tight end sets and a combination of [running backs] McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason. Although I believe that both defenses are elite, they both have weaknesses that will be exposed. My hope is that the Niners will be able to overcome Kansas City’s Defensive Line and come out on top,” said Stine.

I think that if Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice step up and make some big plays for the team they can be an unstoppable offense. Patrick Mahomes also needs to just play catch with his receivers and stay relaxed under pressure,”

— Tanner Ohmes

Most would know that when the Chiefs offense is clicking, they can be a very scary team for their opponents. The Chiefs have possibly one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game of football and an elite tight end that functions as a dynamic duo. Aside from Kelce being the number one threat on the receiving end for Kansas City’s offense, rookie receiver Rashee Rice is another weapon Mahomes has at his disposal.

“I think that if Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice step up and make some big plays for the team they can be an unstoppable offense. Patrick Mahomes also needs to just play catch with his receivers and stay relaxed under pressure,” said Ohmes.

The stage is set for an electrifying game between two amazing teams. Both teams have dedicated months of hard work and determination to have a chance at winning the 58th edition of the Super Bowl, granting the winning team the Lombardi Trophy.
