Coming into the 2015 season, boy’s basketball has a large senior presence on the court.  Due to strong leadership and experienced players, the team is hopeful for success as they compete against other talented teams in their league.

“We have strong senior leadership and I think we will be very competitive,” said head coach Kelly Hambrick.

These seniors have developed on their way through the program, and have now matured in order to lead the team towards success this season.

“Last season our current seniors such as Kyle Luna (12), Vincent Mcfadden (12), Anthony Trujillo (12) and Daniel Haimes (12), didn’t quite have the experience to be as good as we wanted to be but now that they are seniors, our leadership is much stronger,” said Hambrick.

Along with a solid amount senior presence, teamwork has allowed the team to become more advanced in their play.

“The team is different from last year. Everyone has bought into the idea of playing with each other and skill-wise we have a lot more people that can handle the ball as opposed to last year,” said varsity captain, Kyle Luna (12).

The boys struggled slightly in their non-conference games in the preseason, but are confidant that they have learned from their mistakes they made early on in the preseason.

With these progressions early on, the boys are excited to see how the rest of the season plays out.

“Overall we have a lot of chemistry this season, we’re like brothers, we call ourselves a brotherhood because were all close and good friends,” said Connor Peterson (11).

The team recorded a 9-8 record in their non-conference games,  giving the Stallions a positive start as they head into league games.

“So far I’m having a lot of fun and I think the season is going to go well if we keep playing the way we’re playing,” said Luna (12).

Boy’s basketball is headed in the right direction but their talent, teamwork, and coaching will be put to the test with league games starting up this month.
