Students graduating this year may have some fear of what comes next within their education journey, specifically when enrolling into college or a university for the first time. However, Counseling 100 is one of the classes that can help eliminate this problem.
Counseling 100 is a class taught by a Saddleback counselor with 1.5 college units for graduation, 5 credits of High school credits. The course itself is CSU transferable if transferring is available for students.
During the spring semester on and off campus, students can ask their Saddleback counselor Ms. Roman who teaches the course to do a schedule change if needed for the class.
The main purpose of the class itself is to prepare incoming students that are heading to Saddleback or any college or university. The course meets once a week as a 6th or 5th period for seniors.
Alongside students preparing for their higher education the class also provided priority in registration to Saddleback for registration of classes.
The class offers a multitude of resources for success during and in college for those students that do take it. It also is great to have taken when transitioning for an AA.
“The class seems easy to understand alongside the help provided making me contemplate on enrolling,” said Charles Rice (12)
The class content is centered around the essential skills that are specific for adulthood, as well as college life. Ms. Roman will assist students in planning out what classes they should take to go towards their specific degree.
“I can get everything in order. The idea of learning the TAG program and how to put my APSin made me consider the choice,” said Diego Gonzalez (12). “Just taking the time to learn more about it made the choice easier for myself.”
There are application workshops available by asking the SJHHS College and Career center in the library with flyers for advertisement also being available.
Students that attend the class and continue onto Saddleback will also be eligible for the promise program available at Saddleback.
Students must complete a Spring 2026 application for admission to Saddleback along with a K-12 Special Admission Request Form to take the program. For those enticed on enrolling in the class fill out a form on the provided form to have an appointment made after Thanksgiving. The appointment will allow for schedule changes for students wanting to take the class.
