Rowan is a senior this year and joined The Express her junior year. She is the president of the Best Buddies club and involved in various other clubs and organizations like No Place for Hate, Sponsor a Stallion, CSF, NHS, and Girls Inc. She has been dancing for 14 years in various styles and plans to study Communications and Journalism in college. This year she wants to write more opinion stories to share her voice on important matters with the school community. She enjoys being a staff writer on the The Express and is looking forward to a great year!

On a cold day in December, the president of the SJHHS Dressember club, MJ Chapman (11) wore a dress to advocate against human trafficking. She plans to continue her presidency through her senior year and follow in her sisters footsteps, who were both previously presidents of the Dressember club. “I want to do it next year and maybe in college I might continue doing it because it's a wide thing and doesn't just have to be in high school,” said Chapman.

National Honors Society Advisor Crystal Stevenson collects new socks for the HOSA Sock Drive. HOSA is a club on campus and a national student organization for future healthcare leaders. They collaborated with NHS to donate socks to the Orange County Rescue Mission homeless shelter. Students brought new neutral toned socks from Wednesday to Friday, and earned one hour of service for each pack of socks.

Leaving the dance room after rehearsing various routines, Amelia Mui (12) heads home to complete her school work, which she balances with dance training on a daily basis. “It can be stressful at times but planning ahead for the week and knowing if I have a certain rehearsal on a certain day, I learned to prioritize my time and manage it,” said Mui.

She was a member of our family for 14 years and had an amazing personality. She would bark everyday at 5:00 to let us know it was her dinner time.”
