Gabriella Bello is a junior and entering her third year on The Express Staff, taking on the role of the News Editor this year. She is excited to be back to collaborate with the team and enhance her journalism skills in order to help educate the student body. Her interests are creative writing (mostly poetry), traveling, movie-watching, listening to music, spending time in nature, and hanging out with family/friends.  Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering at her Church and Mission Hospital. Gabriella hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, currently looking into neurology! She is also passionate about continuing her writing and publishing more of her work after high school as well.

Where a celebrity goes, paparazzi follows. The growth of celebrity culture has led to a rise in these notorious photographers, known for invading the personal space and boundaries of famous individuals. While there are paparazzi that engage with celebrities respectively, often their pursuit to snag a photo can lead to objectifying behaviors in how they capture their photos, and even what they capture. The violating nature of paparazzi is heavily targeted towards young female celebrities, including Emma Watson and Chappell Roan who have both spoken out upon this issue.

This is to ensure student athletes are not at risk while practicing their sport. If the thermometer drops down to the black zone (temperatures above 92.1), practice cancellations are mandatory.

Patiently awaiting the pep rally to begin, the sophomore student section brims with anticipation. In an effort to build excitement, ASB dimmed the lights and had a series of spotlights illuminating the students.

Hyping up the crowd, Varsity cheerleaders Elle Gajda (11), Greta Wolfsohn (12), and Reese Gajda (12) show off their impressive athleticism. Posing in their pyramid stunt, the Gajda sisters show off their heel stretches while Wolfsohn braces as center flyer.

Strutting the gym floor, Intermediate Dance energizes the crowd while they perform their up-beat dance combo to a remix of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

For his final performance of the pep rally, Zack Smith (12) challenges Nathan Zollinger (12) to a push-up competition. After challenging Zollinger, Smith abruptly ended the competition in a comedic manner.

Putting on their game face, Spanish teacher Alvaro Serrano and AP Euro teacher Robert Lynde work together as they compete in a game of “Hungry Hippo.” Shortly after, the crowd cheered as this teacher duo won the game.

During NHS’s April meeting, tutoring liaison Iurii Kolyadin (11) informs club members on the tutoring schedule for the month. The current officers also shared during the meeting those elected for officer positions for the 2024-2025 school year.
