Journey Fischbeck (11) has been playing lacrosse since fifth grade. She currently plays on the SJHHS varsity team, Pacific Falcons 2016 club team, and the Girls’ OC US Lacrosse National Team.

During her freshman and sophomore year, Fischbeck attended Capistrano Valley High School and played on the varsity girls’ lacrosse team. CVHS went undefeated in 2014, and advanced to the Southern-Division semi finals. Despite her season being curtailed by a concussion and an injury to her ankle, her teammates awarded her Offensive Player of the Year.

Junior year, Fischbeck decided to transfer to SJHHS. She appreciates how welcoming and friendly SJHHS is compared to CVHS, on and off the field.

“With her incredible lacrosse skills, sportsmanship, and amazing advice; it was more than easy to include her on our team,” said Varsity Captain Hannah Minsky (11).

Unfortunately, due to CIF transfer rules, Fischbeck was not allowed to play in games for thirty days. She has missed two thirds of the 2015 season because of this rule.

Instead of letting her ineligibility to play bring her down, she used her knowledge of the game to help coach the team during her sit-out period.

“I tried to be motivation off the field, because I wasn’t able to be on the field with my stick,” said Fischbeck.

On April 15, Fischbeck played her first game of the season at SJHHS. Varsity played Rosary High School, and won 15-10.

Fischbeck is committed to Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. She received an athletic scholarship worth $16,000 of her tuition. She will be majoring in Intelligence and she hopes to become a part of the CIA or FBI.
