Gabriella Bello, Editor-in-Chief
Gabriella Bello is a senior in her bittersweet fourth year on The Express Staff. As Editor-in-Chief, she is looking forward to growing as both a leader and journalist. Likewise, she is excited to expand the newspaper’s sections, capture more stories, and watch the newspaper thrive. She is grateful to have been part of a program that lifts up student voices and the voices of our communities. Her interests include creative writing, watching films, traveling, going to concerts, and hanging out with family/friends. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering at her church and Providence Mission Hospital. Gabriella plans on pursuing a career as a physician and continuing to write after high school.
Brielle Lee, Photo Editor
Brielle Lee is a senior at San Juan Hills Highschool and has been apart of The Express for two years now. During school she is a part of Model United Nations and is president of the club chapter Best Buddies. Brielle’s passion in life is traveling; she’s only been to three continents so far but plans on visiting all before the age of 50. Brielle loves all forms of art, from music, to film, painting, and photography. Some of her favorites include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to any movie directed by Jordan Peele. In her free time she enjoys swimming in the ocean, scrapbooking, and binge watching her favorites. Brielle is excited for her senior year and hopes to bring a positive lens to her school’s campus.
Reese Whitehead, Opinion Editor
Reese is a junior at San Juan Hills High School and first-year opinion editor for The Express. Outside of journalism she is an athlete on the junior varsity tennis team, a member of the cappies theater critics, and a small business owner. She is excited to be in a leadership position to continue developing the skills necessary to major in journalism at a four year university.
Kate Kowalski, Staff Writer
Kate Kowalski is a senior at San Juan Hills High School. As a first-time member of The Express newspaper, she’s excited to make an impact in her community by creating meaningful work and strengthening relationships with her classmates. Outside of The Express, she enjoys having Bible study with her friends and spending time with family. Kate has a passion for all the arts, but specifically in film as she has a newfound love for Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle) and Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash). Kate is a co-founder of SJHHS’s Made for More club and loves spending her evenings at Young Life events.
Victoria Hernandez, Girls Sport Editor
Victoria Hernandez is a senior this year and is excited for her second year on The Express. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She plays soccer and lacrosse both in club and high school, and hopes to heal quickly after tearing her ACL this summer. She is looking forward to further enhancing her writing skills and deepening her knowledge while taking the role of the girls sports editor. Victoria was a part of the Invent to Prevent program and Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) and loves finding ways to help and give back to her community. She strives to play soccer or lacrosse in college and pursue a career field in either criminal justice or sports psychology and health.
Wilder Doblie, Staff Writer
Wilder Doblie is a senior at San Juan Hills High School. He is excited to be joining The Express for his first and final year. Wilder is active in ASB and team captain of the track team. In his free time, Wilder loves going to the beach and hanging out with friends and family. He is a lover of music, collects vinyl, and is an avid concert goer. Wilder is looking forward to making his senior year one to remember!
Presley Davis, Staff Writer
Presley Davis is a Senior and entering her first year writing for The Express. Presley joined The Express staff to deepen her connection with her community, and to further her writing skills. In her freetime, Presley enjoys hanging out with her friends, watching movies, listening to music, and going to the beach. Presley hopes to further her education at a four-year university.
