Artistic Opportunities at SJHHS
C.C. Showers, Jacob Koclanis (12), and Jennie Mae Layman, Emery Thompson (10), attempt to rid mentally challenged Buddy Layman, Leo Perry (11), of his ringworm by washing his feet with warm water. Throughout the entirety of the play, the main characters try to relieve Buddy of his uncomfortable infection, but this task proves to be difficult as Buddy is unwilling to go anywhere near water after his own mother drowned.
"The Diviners" Takes The Stage
Juvenile Myositis survivor walks through balloon arch made by SJHHS student. Cure JM put together an event with help from National Honor Society students in order to bring awareness to juvenile myositis. Cure JM works to accelerate research on juvenile myositis, a rare childhood autoimmune disease that causes muscle, skin, and blood vessel inflammation.

Ella, Lisa Gnielinski (12), and Prince Topher, William Meshkin (12), meet once again at the royal banquet and dance together. Prince Topher tells Ella about how he wants to truly help the people who have gotten their land taken away. They share a magical moment in love, right before Ella runs from the banquet at midnight, leaving one of her slippers at the palace.

Representing SJHHS at the District Dodgeball Tournament, Dillip Bandhal (12) and Rocco Jensen (12) throw in unison. Their team, “Dillip’n EM,” won the SJHHS Dodgeball Tournament and moved on to the district games.

Pitcher Drew Nelson (11) delivers the ball to home plate towards the Aliso Niguel high school batter. Nelson played a pivotal role in the Stallion championship caliber pitching staff in 2024.

Meticulously crafting a New York Times inspired senior class poster, Commissioner of Publicity Anjali Mehra (12) prepares for Clash of the Classes. Creating posters inspired by brands that correspond with class colors is a longtime tradition of SJHHS’ annual Clash of the Classes.

Dr. Mahindrakar stands with twin athletes, Jack Monarek (12) and Lily Monarek (12), at Stallion Showcase. The two athletes attended Stallion Showcase to show off and present their sports teams to incoming freshmen. Jack Monarek represented the boys varsity basketball team and Lily Monarek represented the girls varsity golf team.

All athletes in attendance have the opportunity to sign the NFL Flag poster, to make their mark on growing the game. The South OC Wave team, whose team is made up of Capo and Saddleback district girls, checked in for the tournament.

Rapunzel, Hannah McCabe (12), and Flynn Rider, Jake Javorsky (12), perform a dip in the final moments of the Dance team’s performance for the Rapunzel themed pep rally. Background dancers Weston Port (11), Summer Lewis (12), Cooper Javorsky (10), and Savannah Stull (12) accompany. This scene resembles the floating lanterns scene in the movie, where Flynn and Rapunzel finally embrace each other.

Lucy Garibaldi is a sophomore at San Juan Hills High School and is excited to begin her first year on the newspaper staff. She is passionate about starting San Juan Hills High School’s first ever podcast! Outside of school, Lucy enjoys baking (and eating her creations!), shopping, spending time with friends and family, and being involved in her church community. Lucy hopes to attend the University of Tennessee and study elementary education after high school.
