Boys Soccer

The boys’ soccer team started league strong with a tie against their largest competitors, El Toro High School. They have been looking forward to dominating the Sea View League throughout pre-season games and they strive to win a league title for San Juan Hills.

Despite a number of obstacles that could’ve broken their spirits, the boys remained head strong. One goalie transferred to JSerra in the beginning of the season, and the team temporarily lost another goalie to an injury.

“We moved up to a higher division this year so it’s definitely going to be tougher for us,” said captain Patrick Landeros (12).

Many of the other teams in the league have lost a majority of their star players, which leaves those teams weaker as a whole. However, SJHHS has grown stronger and has created new bonds with one another to enhance communication on the field.

“I think we are going to do alright this year. We are pretty young, but the competition is weak. I think El Toro is going to be pretty good. The other teams are looking to beat us but I know we can beat them,” said captain Donovan Schreve (11).

The team is very optimistic for their season. As long as the team works together and continues to communicate successfully, a bright future will lie ahead in league play and CIF.
