Anti-Vaccine Movement May Be Detrimental

Many people are now resisting immunizations for themselves or their children, but at what cost? The anti-immunization movement is more harmful than anything.

By resisting vaccines, individuals put our society at risk and harm not only themselves but those around them as well.

But why do these people choose to reject the idea of vaccines?

Some are against the shots because they believe they contain harmful chemicals or ingredients that should never find their way into the human body. There have been rumors circulating that vaccines contain certain levels of mercury which may be traced to autism or neurological damage, but this theory has yet to be scientifically proven. There is no direct link known to exist between autism and vaccines, yet people still tend to think negatively of the shots for this reason. The ingredients found in immunization shots are safe for children in the small doses given, and they have not been proven to cause any harm.

But what about botox?

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery states that botox injections are simply small doses of botulinum toxin, type A. This flesh pumping toxin may be just as “harmful” as medical vaccines, if not more.

“It is possible that the medication may spread from the area of injection and affect muscles in other areas of the body. If the muscles that control breathing and swallowing are affected, you may develop severe problems breathing or swallowing that may last for several months and may cause death. If you have difficulty swallowing, you may need to be fed through a feeding tube to avoid getting food or drink into your lungs,” said an article from Medline Plus.

Funny how many will boycott vaccinations, but fail to question what chemicals may be found in their new lips.

Even if someone believes that they will remain healthy and avoid being infected with a disease without the immunization shot, this is not the case. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that “for some diseases, one case is enough to cause concern in a community. An example is measles, which is one of the most contagious diseases known. This disease spreads quickly among people who are not immune.”

This raises many concerns in our society, especially in a school environment. Children spend a majority of their time at school, and many outbreaks of disease may occur if the children are exempt from receiving the vaccines. All it takes is one student in the classroom to be infected with a disease and it may be spread to many others who are not immune.

By resisting vaccines and immunizations, individuals are posing a threat to our society as a whole, and their choice may be detrimental.
