Tragedy Strikes San Juan Hills

On Feb. 14, 2015, many Stallions lost a close friend and classmate, Uzair Qureshi, to his battle against cancer.

Qureshi was very involved in school, he was part of the swim team and was devoted to his faith. His outgoing and generous nature radiated positivity wherever he went.

Uzair had a few different cases of cancer, but never gave up hope or positivity throughout his two year battle.

“Uzair was one of my good friends from 6th grade, and it’s hard to wrap my mind around him being gone,” said Cameron Blunt (11).

Even though his health didn’t allow him to attend school often, he tried to come whenever he was up to it and left a lasting impression on campus. He solidified his reputation as a good scholar and enjoyed seeing friends at school. Qureshi would say hello to everyone he came in contact with, spreading happiness throughout campus.

“My favorite memory with Uzair was seeing him play basketball even though he wasn’t a basketball player. He taught me some new things,” said Spencer Vann (11).

Qureshi was always filled with joy and brought smiles to so many faces. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.
