For almost 20 years, a fictional world of magic and wonder has enamored readers of all ages with an extensive development of a detailed storyline all around one central character–Harry Potter.

June 26, 1997, a modest British novelist by the name of J.K. Rowling published the first of seven books that would eventually grow to become the worldwide success it is today. Rowling’s opus of the orphan hero that we’ve come to know and love was for a short time believed to have faded from existence after the seventh, and final book of the Harry Potter series, was published.

On the contrary, it continued to thrive with the series’ envisionment into an eight part movie masterpiece, the creation of two theme parks, an official social website, and currently an extending sequel play all dealing with the life and interactions of the beloved plot-centric character.

But after the last movie release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” five years ago, it was unlikely we would ever get any exposition added to the universe on the big screen until Rowling started writing again.

With this in mind, “Potter Fever” struck up again at the announcement of a play concerning the next generation of children belonging to the main heroes of the novels back in October of 2015. It was believed that Rowling would most likely push for the story to show up in a movie format, but much to fans chagrin, she deflated all rumors, confirming that the this production would stay bound to the stage. According to The Movie Network, they received an official statement from Warner Brothers stating: “”Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is a stage play, with no plans for there to be a film.”

Along with this point, she also announced it was the end of Harry Potter’s story altogether. In an interview with Reuters, an international news outlet, she commented on the future of Harry Potter past the play’s boundaries,

He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know, [and] I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but…Harry is done now.”

Disappointment hungover the fate of Potter fans all over the world at the announcement of both of these bombshells; of course that was the case, however, until now.

For the first time since 2011, the Harry Potter universe is about to open up to a new take on the wizarding world in cinematic form. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” hits theaters November 18th and is the newest addition to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter visual realm.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will take place in 1926, before the events of the traditional Harry Potter timeline. The story follows Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, a quirky “Magizoologist” who finds himself in a lot of trouble when the film’s conflict commences.

This new story will breathe new life into an entirely new connection to the famed series providing backbone to more aged characters from the series with rumors of connections to fan-favorite Dumbledore and his rise to fame in the Harry Potter timeline.

Rowling decided to double down on the prospective success of the rumored trilogy of movies, extending it to five films instead. At a panel of a pre-premiere fan event, Rowling explained,

We said a trilogy is a kind of placeholder… I’ve now done the plotting properly, so we’re pretty sure it’s going to be five movies”

Warner Bros. believes that “Beasts” is certified cinema gold and has apparently brought the entertainment giant great faith in the property.

With the date soon approaching, it will soon be revealed just how great the unorthodox addition to the Potter domain actually is. After all, it’s based entirely on an idea concocted from a fictional reference in the series drafted into a story never before written into a novel.

With Rowling’s assurance in her newest enterprise and Warner Bros. affirmation in it, fans should certainly look forward to the new endeavors of the long admired world we have cherished for so long.
