Audience Has a Ball at SJHHS Performing Arts Department’s “Cinderella”

Ella, played by Amanda Rhodes (12), sings “In My Own Little Corner” in the first act of the play, right after Jean-Michel, Brent Arciniega (10), gives Ella a book about the world.

The SJHHS Performing Arts Department closed their Spring Musical “Cinderella” April 23 with an audience roaring in a standing ovation. The cast and crew began working in February to bring the classic fairy tale to life. The production provided an opportunity for all of the performing arts departments to come together, involving drama, choir, dance, and orchestra students.

Artistic Opportunities at SJHHS

C.C. Showers, Jacob Koclanis (12), and Jennie Mae Layman, Emery Thompson (10), attempt to rid mentally challenged Buddy Layman, Leo Perry (11), of his ringworm by washing his feet with warm water. Throughout the entirety of the play, the main characters try to relieve Buddy of his uncomfortable infection, but this task proves to be difficult as Buddy is unwilling to go anywhere near water after his own mother drowned.

“The Diviners” Takes The Stage

Juvenile Myositis survivor walks through balloon arch made by SJHHS student. Cure JM put together an event with help from National Honor Society students in order to bring awareness to juvenile myositis. Cure JM works to accelerate research on juvenile myositis, a rare childhood autoimmune disease that causes muscle, skin, and blood vessel inflammation.

Pitcher Drew Nelson (11) delivers the ball to home plate towards the Aliso Niguel high school batter. It was a competitive and close game, Aliso went on to win against SJHHS 4-2.
