After two and a half years of touring their debut album, Night Visions, Imagine Dragons released their follow up album, Smoke+Mirrors on February 17th.

Their debut album was very successful. Night Visions’ main single, “Radioactive”, stayed on Billboard’s Hot 100 for a record breaking 87 weeks.

Their new album features the new singles: “I Bet My Life”, “Gold”, and “Shots”. “I Bet My Life” was released on October 27th of last year. “Gold” was released on December 15th, and “Shots” was available on January 27th. The title track, “Smoke and Mirrors” will soon be released as the fourth single on the album.

Smoke+Mirrors contains 13 tracks at a total of 53 minutes. The deluxe version, which is available at Target, contains four extra songs including Thief” and “Second Chances”.

The album’s lead single, “I Bet My Life”, is one of the more upbeat songs on the album that tells the story of the lead singer, Dan Reynolds, being an outcast in his family.

“I’m So Sorry” is described as the thesis statement for the album. The album is one big apology for the band’s friends and family as they have left home in hopes of becoming successful. This song is the heaviest song on the entire album.

“It Comes Back To You” and “Dream” are two of the slower songs on the album, but are truly the hidden gems of Smoke+Mirrors.

This album closes with the triumphant finale, “The Fall”. This track is the longest on the album running just over six minutes.

Following up an album that broke numerous records is not easy, but Smoke+Mirrors shows potential for the same success as it has already reached number one on Billboard. Most of the songs on this album could easily be successful singles. This album gets better and better by the listen and features songs that are unique and stay true to Imagine Dragons’  unique sound.

Imagine Dragons is currently touring Smoke+Mirrors in South America. Their North American tour starts on June 3rd in Oregon. Alternative artists, Halsey and Metric, will be opening for them on the North American leg of their world tour.

They will be touring in Southern California this July in Anaheim, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
