STUDENTS TAKING ART TO THE NATION: Stan club advisor, Jan Colt, is consulted by Shelby Myers regarding ideas about upcoming holiday gram sales. Jan Colt plans to hold similar fundraisers throughout the year in an effort to raise money for future art courses.

STAN (Students Take Art to the Nation) club is beginning the year with a fundraiser for the art classes provided at SJHHS. Students involved will be making holiday grams to be sold during the last week of October during lunch to raise money for art.

In addition to the holiday grams, other specialized cards, ceramic beads, and trinkets will be sold as well.

The money will go directly into the art class fund, allowing them to buy supplies for students in the program. Members of STAN will have the authority to decide where the money will go specifically.

All students currently enrolled in Drawing and Painting or Ceramics are automatically in the club, however, anyone with an interest can join. STAN club is in its second year and is still in the growing process.

“It’s a good way to release creativity and you get something out of it and you feel like you’re contributing something to the school,” said Kayla Jones, freshman.

Members of the club meet during student choice tutorial in Colt’s classroom and discuss future ideas for fundraisers and activities–such as the holiday grams.

“It’s very interesting and fun to think of ideas so we can sell things to make money,” said Kelly Brown, freshman.

Cassandra Bellomo, senior, stated the reason she likes the club is because of, “the whole mentality of it. We are doing this not because we want money, but this is something we need to do and has given me the motivation to want to do it.”

STAN club creations can be found for sale in the upper quad during lunch throughout the final week of October, leading up to Halloween.
