Donald Trump Rally Turns Violent in Costa Mesa

SJHHS students who were turned away witness protests instead.

When Republican front-runner Donald Trump held a rally in Costa Mesa several  SJHHS students attempted to attend but were turned away. Instead, they witnessed waves of protesters.

The front-runner spoke to around 8,000 supporters at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa. Some supporters were even turned away due to overcapacity at the Pacific Amphitheatre.

Protesters went to the streets to express their anger towards the Republican front-runner and his supporters.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, about twenty people were arrested outside of the Amphitheatre.

“I was surprised that the Trump supporters were not very violent. The anti-Trump protesters were very violent while the pro-Trump supporters were very peaceful,” said Dallas Varner (12).

The protesters waved Mexican flags and denounced Trump’s rhetoric towards Mexican Americans and other groups.

Police officers surrounded protesters with riot gear.

Protests lasted throughout the night causing major traffic problems surrounding Costa Mesa.

One police car was damaged by protesters during the protest last night.

From Chicago to Costa Mesa, Donald Trump’s presence has stirred violence in the streets of American cities.

As Donald Trump nears to clinching the Republican nomination, the drama and violence around his rallies have been a major topic of conversation.

The Republican front runner recently won Indiana after two rallies in that state. Despite some concern about his rhetoric in the American public, Donald Trump has remained the front-runner in a competitive Republican race.
