Every 15 Minutes: A Sobering Lesson in Loss
Every 15 Minutes is a two-day program that teaches teens about the dangers of drinking and driving. The program primarily consists of a mock crash scene and an assembly where a guest speaker shares their personal experiences related to drunk driving.

Claire Stafford, Feature Editor
Claire Stafford is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and is excited for her third year on The Express. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, going to the beach, reading, and traveling. She is looking forward to deepening her knowledge of journalism as the Feature Editor of The Express this year! After high school, Claire plans to attend a four-year university and a carrer in law.

Gabriella Bello, Editor-in-Chief
Gabriella Bello is a senior in her bittersweet fourth year on The Express Staff. As Editor-in-Chief, she is looking forward to growing as both a leader and student journalist. Likewise, she is excited to expand the newspaper and capture more stories. Her interests include creative writing, traveling, going to concerts, watching films, hiking, and hanging out with family/friends. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering at her Church and Mission Hospital. Gabriella plans on pursuing a career as a physician and continuing to write after high school.

Elliott Ruvalcaba, Staff Writer
Elliott Ruvalcaba is a San Juan Hills High School senior and first-time member of The Express staff this year. He joined The Express to further his writing skills and engage deeper with his connection to the community on campus, hoping to write about a wide array of topics. Elliott greatly enjoys studying history and literature, hoping to study both at a greater level in college. He likes listening to a broad range of music and is serving as the president of the Alternative Music Club this year. Outside of school, he enjoys reading and film, some of his favorite books are Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and a couple of his favorite films are Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru and Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing.

Rowan Noonan, Staff Writer
Rowan is a senior this year and joined The Express her junior year. She is the president of the Best Buddies club and involved in various other clubs and organizations like No Place for Hate, Sponsor a Stallion, CSF, NHS, and Girls Inc. She has been dancing for 14 years in various styles and plans to study Communications and Journalism in college. This year she wants to write more opinion stories to share her voice on important matters with the school community. She enjoys being a staff writer on the The Express and is looking forward to a great year!

Brielle Lee, Photo Editor
Brielle Lee is a senior at San Juan Hills Highschool and has been apart of The Express for two years now. During school she is a part of Model United Nations and is president of the club chapter Best Buddies. Brielle’s passion in life is traveling; she’s only been to three continents so far but plans on visiting all before the age of 50. Brielle loves all forms of art, from music, to film, painting, and photography. Some of her favorites include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to any movie directed by Jordan Peele. In her free time she enjoys swimming in the ocean, scrapbooking, and binge watching her favorites. Brielle is excited for her senior year and hopes to bring a positive lens to her school’s campus.

Iman Elkoustaf, Feature Editor
Iman Elkoustaf is a senior at San Juan Hills. This year marks her second year on The Express, and she is so excited to continue growing connections, meeting new people, and producing great journalism. Within San Juan Hills, Iman is very spirited and loves staying involved on campus. Outside of school, Iman is a principal dancer at Repertory Ballet San Clemente, teaches ballet to young girls, and loves spending time with friends and family. She is looking forward to growing her journalism skills as Feature Editor of The Express this year!
