Gabriella Bello, News Editor
Gabriella Bello is a junior and entering her third year on The Express Staff, taking on the role of the News Editor this year. She is excited to be back to collaborate with the team and enhance her journalism skills in order to help educate the student body. Her interests are creative writing (mostly poetry), traveling, movie-watching, listening to music, spending time in nature, and hanging out with family/friends. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering at her Church and Mission Hospital. Gabriella hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, currently looking into neurology! She is also passionate about continuing her writing and publishing more of her work after high school as well.
Claire Stafford, Feature Editor
Claire Stafford is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and is excited for her third year on The Express. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, going to the beach, reading, and traveling. She is looking forward to deepening her knowledge of journalism as the Feature Editor of The Express this year! After high school, Claire plans to attend a four-year university and a carrer in law.
Reese Whitehead, Staff Writer
Reese is a sophomore attending her first year at SJHHS. She loves creative writing and is excited to learn new styles in journalism. She joined The Express to pursue the beginnings of a career in writing and hopes to improve in writing news stories. Outside of class she plays tennis, runs a jewelry business, reads, and spends her free time with family. She lives in San Clemente and enjoys walking her dog along the beach.
Mylan West, Staff Writer
Mylan West is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and joined The Express last year. She wants to learn about interesting topics, write feature stories, and take photos revolving around school. Interests of hers are journaling, listening to music, traveling, and spending quality time with family, friends and cats. In the future, she wants to attend college and have a career in law.
Audrey Tillotson, Staff Writer
Audrey Tillotson is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and this is her first year in Newspaper. She is on the varsity girls’ soccer team and she wants to continue to play soccer in college. She joined The Express to grow her writing skills, public speaking abilities, collaboration skills, and critical thinking. This year, she wants to write about sports and interesting events going on in the world that students can relate to or find interesting or even inspiring. She enjoys playing soccer, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends, collecting sea glass, and learning new things. Her dream is to become a psychologist to help people overcome mental challenges. Audrey hopes to make a positive impact on The Express this year and continue to develop solid writing skills.
Iman Elkoustaf, Staff Writer
Iman Elkoustaf is a junior at San Juan Hills High School. This is her first year on The Express, and she is so excited to further connect with her fellow students and grow her writing and journalism skills. Iman loves being involved in school spirit, she is the captain of San Juan Hills’ dance team, president of clubs Going Global and Beauty with Purpose, and enjoys participating within school events. Outside of school, Iman is a principal dancer at Repertory Ballet San Clemente, works teaching ballet, loves going to the beach, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
Elliott Ruvalcaba, Staff Writer
Elliott Ruvalcaba is a San Juan Hills High School senior and first-time member of The Express staff this year. He joined The Express to further his writing skills and engage deeper with his connection to the community on campus, hoping to write about a wide array of topics. Elliott greatly enjoys studying history and literature, hoping to study both at a greater level in college. He enjoys a broad range of music and will be a founding member of the Alternative Music Club this year. Outside of school, he enjoys reading and film, some of his favorite books are Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and a couple of his favorite films are Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru and Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing.
Chloe Porchia, Staff Writer
Chloe is a friendly, nice girl who loves cats and her best friends. Although she’s excited for her first year on The Express, she’s also nervous. There are many interesting and kind people in her newspaper class and she’s excited to write. There are many topics to write about, including sports, underappreciated things around campus, interviews, and drama around the school. In her free time, Chloe likes to play guitar, listen to music, and hang out outside with friends.
Rowan Noonan, Staff Writer
Rowan is a senior this year and joined The Express her junior year. She is the president of the Best Buddies club and is involved in various other clubs and organizations like No Place for Hate, Sponsor a Stallion, CSF and NHS. She has been dancing for 14 years in various styles and plans to study dance and Journalism and Media Communications in college. This year she wants to write more opinion stories to to share her voice on important matters with the school community. She enjoys being a part of The Express because she loves writing and is looking forward to a great year!
Brielle Lee, Staff Writer
Brielle Lee is a junior and entering her first year with The Express. Brielles’ interests are painting, concerts, traveling, writing, and spending time with family and friends. She volunteers with the elderly and all ages with special needs.
