Sofia Bello, Arts & Entertainment
Sofia is a senior at San Juan Hills High School and is returning for her fourth and final year here on The Express. She has a strong passion for reading, baking, and could listen to music all day. She loves the color pink, watching sunsets, and spending time with her best friend. In the future she hopes to study criminal psychology and criminal psychology as well as own a fashion line one day. Inside of school she is a part of NHS, CSF, Creative writing club, and Publishing club. She cannot wait for another year full of new friendships, fun, and spreading the voices of her community.
Celeste Cariker, Co Editor-in-Chief
Celeste Cariker is a senior at San Juan Hills and is eager for her second year on The Express staff. This year Celeste is excited to see how she can help grow the newspaper as Co Editor-in-Chief. Celeste works after school and is an avid participant in school district politics. In her free time she enjoys surfing, playing guitar, and cooking. After high school, Celeste is attending Pitzer College where she will be pursuing a career in social justice.
Alex Alvord, Staff Writer
Alex Alvord is a freshman at San Juan Hills. In the future he plans to be a researcher of technology, but he also has a penchant for writing. In his free time, he plays games, practices martial arts, bakes, and currently plans to release a novel sometime in the near future. During his freshman year, Alex is excited to learn more about journalism and find his place on the team.
Gabriella Bello, News Editor
Gabriella Bello is a junior and entering her third year on The Express Staff, taking on the role of the News Editor this year. She is excited to be back to collaborate with the team and enhance her journalism skills in order to help educate the student body. Her interests are creative writing (mostly poetry), traveling, movie-watching, listening to music, spending time in nature, and hanging out with family/friends. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering at her Church and Mission Hospital. Gabriella hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, currently looking into neurology! She is also passionate about continuing her writing and publishing more of her work after high school as well.
Caoimhin Grothe-Brinton, Staff Writer
Caoimhin is returning to the Express for the second time. She joined the Express as a creative outlet and to be a part of a welcoming community. This year she plans to write pieces about upcoming events and to bring awareness to different communities and cultures. Caoimhin takes an interest in films and music, wanting to pursue a career as an entertainment lawyer or a filmmaker. After school, she participates at the Boys and Girls Club and goes home to watch TV and play music.
Lucy Garibaldi, Staff Writer
Lucy Garibaldi is a sophomore at San Juan Hills High School and is excited to begin her first year on the newspaper staff. She is passionate about starting San Juan Hills High School’s first ever podcast! Outside of school, Lucy enjoys baking (and eating her creations!), shopping, spending time with friends and family, and being involved in her church community. Lucy hopes to attend the University of Tennessee and study elementary education after high school.
Riley Savage, Staff Writer
Riley Savage is a freshman at San Juan Hills High School and is stoked to start his first year as a part of The Express. This year, his goal is to help build interest among the student body for the school paper and learn more about The Express. In Riley’s free time, he loves to bodyboard, play sports, hang out with friends, and go fishing.
Joaquin Serrato, Multimedia and Sports Editor
Joaquin Serrato is a junior at San Juan Hills High School and this is his second year at The Express. He has ambitions to develop the sports section of newspaper Joaquin is often seen holding a camera on the Stallion Football sideline under the Friday night lights. His hobbies consist of watching sports, playing pickup basketball, and relaxing at home. Joaquin plans to attend a four-year university and has dreams of being a play-by-play sports commentator.
