Caden Mai is a senior at San Juan Hills High School, and this is his first year in The Express. He is looking forward to taking photos at events and writing stories featuring current trends at school. Caden loves eating food and watching movies, and he aspires to try every fast-food restaurant in the U.S. Additionally, Caden hopes to obtain his MD in anesthesiology while also starring on Survivor, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race.

During dress rehearsal, Clay Wittman (12) sits in preparation to act out his piece of the act. Clay plays the role of the pigeon, a messenger for the farm.

Squealer, Napoleon’s right hand man, changes the core commandments of Animal Farm to suit the desires of the pigs. Over time, the corrupt pigs change the laws of the animal-run society in order to best match their interests.

Napoleon announces his plans to build a second windmill to the farm animals after finishing the first windmill. During this scene, it is evident that Napoleon has solidified his absolute power over the farm, symbolizing how power seized in corrupt hands will force everyone else under control.

Napoleon’s dogs execute Snowball. The removal of the costume and mask marks Napoleon’s overthrow of Snowball and Snowball’s symbolic death which begins the corrupt pigs’ domination.

Snowball proposes his plans to build a windmill to improve life for the animals on the farm after the removal of the Jones family. His proposals are opposed by Napoleon, who overthrows Snowball to take on full dominance over the farm.

During the Battle of the Cowshed, Snowball strangles Mrs. Jones during the animals’ rebellion against the Jones family. The fierce battle ends in a victory for the animals, resulting in the animals’ self dependence of maintaining control over the farm.

During the dress rehearsal, Luke Dunphy (12), Molly McCabe (11), and Emily Vega (12) prepare the fight choreography for one of the battle scenes in Animal Farm. This play simulates more fight scenes than ever, featuring elements of Animal Farm’s plot such as the Battle of the Cowshed between the animals and the humans.

In one of Animal Farm’s scenes, Benjamin the Donkey and Clover the horse stare at the new “list of commandments.” They don’t realize it, but the corrupt pigs that overrule the farm under Napoleon change the rules to suit their needs. In a culminating sweep of domination, Napoleon seals his complete control over the farm, turning the once democratic animal society into a dictatorship.
