Reese is a sophomore attending her first year at SJHHS. She loves creative writing and is excited to learn new styles in journalism. She joined The Express to pursue the beginnings of a career in writing and hopes to improve in writing news stories. Outside of class she plays tennis, runs a jewelry business, reads, and spends her free time with family. She lives in San Clemente and enjoys walking her dog along the beach.

Promise for Paws alumni Hooper went home at just ten weeks old, now happily living at the beach. Always bursting with love and joy, he serves as proof that taking in a shelter dog can boost overall happiness and change families for the better.

In the spirit of winter formal, SJHHS mascot Stella the Stallion invited Stanley to the dance with an adorable sign reading “I would la la love WOFO with you.” The pair put on a wonderful display of the common tradition involving girls presenting WOFO proposals.

Introduced for the first time, a combined concert section dubbed “PB&J” and “Various Artists” combined their talents to form a new section of singers.

Siblings Josiah and Michaela Chapman delivered a heartwarming performance of the holiday favorite “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” at last Thursday’s winter concert. The two were one of the many ways that the choir program combined contrasting voices in a beautiful harmony.

Choir director Michael Ushino led the meistersinger’s rendition of “Masters in the Hall” with a drum, accompanied by student teacher Michael Ferrer on the tambourine.

In the spirit of the season, the Meistersingers performed the traditional carol “Masters in the Hall” in santa hats while marching onto the stage. The group came flooding down the aisles to provide the audience with an immersive musical experience.

Meistersingers are often a rarity amongst high school choirs, but the San Juan Hills program proudly presented their group of over thirty boys. This talented group presented “Masters in the Hall,” “The Holly and the Ivy,” and finally “Holly Jolly Christmas.”

Hard at work, AP Biology student Iclia Rodriguez (12) finishes up her Unit five “Drosophila Genetics lab.” Unit five is centered on the study of heredity, and this lab focused on the genetics of fruit flies through an online simulation.

In a culminating sweep of domination, Napoleon seals his complete control over the farm, turning the once democratic animal society into a dictatorship.
