The San Juan Hills varsity baseball team will return to Angel Stadium for the second time this school year, this time they will play on the field.

On Nov. 1, 2014, thirteen varsity baseball players volunteered in the “Challenger Classic” at Angel Stadium. Many participants described the event as “a life changing experience” ,as they helped disabled children and adolescents play the game of baseball at Angel Stadium.

On April 29, 2015, all members of the varsity team will once again take the field.

For some, this will be their second time playing on a major league diamond, but with no enthusiasm lost.

“I’m certainly just as excited and anxious going into the game this year as I was last year, but it’s nice having had the experience of playing in the stadium before,” said Jackson Lanigan (12).

Although it is the team’s second time playing at the stadium, having this game at night will add something extra to the players’ experience.

“When I was first told that we would play at Angels Stadium at night, it took my breath away. Every baseball player growing up has dreamed of playing in a Major League stadium under the lights in front of thousands. I can’t wait until that night to play in that atmosphere with our students and staff there to support us,” said Marcus Williams (11), who will play at Angel Stadium for the first time.

Despite the excitement of just being able to play in a major stadium, the team looks forward to further enhance their experience by securing a win against their opponent Valley View High School.

“Playing at Angel Stadium gives me the feeling that I can accomplish my dream of playing Major League baseball if I push myself as hard as I can. It is an experience and opportunity that myself and our team simply can’t pass up,” said Jaq McCarthy (11).
