Surf Team Ranks High in CCL Finals
April 25, 2014
SJHHS’ surf team has done it again. Over Spring Break, the SJHHS surf team won the 2014 Scholastic Surf Series Division B High School Overall Surf Team State Championship; it was the team’s second Championship.
From all the early morning practices to after school sessions, all of their hard work paid off.
The team has appeared in the finals three times, claiming the Men’s Longboard (for the fourth consecutive year in a row), Men’s Shortboard, and Women’s Longboard State Championship titles.
However, this was not the first win for the team as a few months back, on December 18 and 20, they swept all five categories. They placed first in Boy’s Longboard, Boy’s Shortboard, Bodyboard, Girl’s Longboard, and Girl’s Shortboard at the Capistrano League Coast (CCL) division finals.
The girl’s team has already taken the 2013 CCL Team championship for Girl’s Overall.
This was the first time ever in Capistrano Coast League history that each individual championship was won by a single school. They are proud to see their victory hung up in the school’s gym next to all the other sports teams victories throughout the year.
