Girls’ Volleyball Defeats Laguna Beach High School
Second CIF scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16.
This week, Lady Stallions defeated Laguna Beach high school in the quarterfinals of CIF. The girls are very excited to make it as far as they did last year.
“We just keep getting better and better every year,” said Hanna Wilson, who plays for the team. They won three games in a row, the scores were 25-22 in the first game, 25-21 in the second game, and 25-18 in the third game.
In the first game, the ladies came out with full confidence, and they were ready to go. “We started out with a lot of energy,” Wilson said.
The second game was more tense. “The energy was down, but we still beat them,” said Dayton. “The defense was off, which made the offence weaker. It was just weak,” Wilson said. Even though their second game wasn’t the easiest, the Stallions came back with a positive attitude and defeated Laguna Beach.
In the third game, “The defense was back up, so the offence was back up,” said Dayton. The third and final game was a huge success, as the girls won the game which meant they were moving onto the next round of CIF.
The whole atmosphere of the game was exciting and energetic. “The seniors really kept the energy up,” said Kyle Luna, junior, who attended the game.
“Our fans were really into it, which motivated us even more,” Wilson said.
This team really relies on each other, they are a family. “Mekenna is the mom. She’s the quarterback of the team,” said Tinker. “Justine is our rock. Whenever we’re freaking out, we look at Justine. If she’s okay, then we’re okay,” said Dayton.
The team will take on the winner of Villa Park and Notre Dame.
