This year in Cross Country our school did great, our runners got 5th place overall in our division. This season went good for some of the runners.
“This year went very well for me, I got my first varsity letter in Cross Country,” said Branden Duby, freshman.
“I’d say our team did really good this season. We did really well for a Division Three Team. We were in a tough league, so I think we all did pretty well,” said David White, freshman.
Both Duby and White received their first varsity letter at San Juan Hills as freshmen.
Branden and David are very passionate about running, along with senior runner Kylee Vandenburgh and junior Amber Born.
“After I run, it’s great, its like no other feeling,” said Born.
“I feel really accomplished after I do really good in a race. I feel like my hard work really paid off,” said Vandenburgh.
Practice for all the players isn’t all just fun and games. They have hard practices and some easier workouts.
“Sometimes we go as far as San Clemente and back for practice, or we’ll just do some laps on the track and around the school,” said White.
Practice for the girls is just as hard as it is for the boys.
“For the girls, we alternate a lot of our practices to make sure we are not overworking ourselves,” said Vandenburgh.
Our Cross Country Coaches are Coach Price (boys) and Coach Casey (girls). They are very supportive of all of their players and push them to do their best.
“I like my coach a lot, Coach Price is really supportive and so is the team,” said Duby.
“Coach Casey is a great coach. I like working with him, he doesn’t hover that much, he gives us guidelines and we work up to them as best we can,” said Born.
Our team did great this season. Next year we hope our team will have another great season next year and the years to come.
