Halloween Costumes Nowadays Far Too Scandalous for Youth
When I was girl Halloween was scary, not slutty!
More people nowadays are dressing in provocative costumes for halloween and it’s ruining Halloween in the name of money.
Sales during Halloween are crucial to Party City, for example, because 25% of their 1.6 billion dollars is made through Halloween. There is no way for them to stay in business without selling supplies and costumes for Halloween.
But, girls, don’t turn yourself into a hussy all for corporate profits. Have some style and remember what Halloween is all about.
The purpose of Halloween is to celebrate the death of harvest and the coming of winter. Also known as All Hallow’s Eve, it eventually evolved into the night of a children-friendly celebration of going from house to house trick or treating and dressing in scary or fun costumes.
Back in my day there was no competition of who had the sluttiest costume, which I hear is the hottest trend for teenagers these days. That’s just plain WRONG. We dressed as witches, goblins, vampires, and other scary creatures. That’s what Halloween is supposed to be about.
If it’s trendy to be a minion then be a minion, but don’t be a slutty minion that only wears the eyes of the minion as a top and short shorts that are supposed to be overalls.
For one night, it is fun to escape the real you and be someone or something else. But it is so important to stay true by keeping it classy so that you won’t be considered trashy.
If you don’t like monsters and scary things think about dressing up as your favorite hero or a clown. Maybe dress up as your favorite movie character or role model. Have fun, but dress up in a way that fills the role of the costume and the character without making you look like a harlot.
Most high school students think that it isn’t “cool” to trick or treat with their friends anymore, instead the thing to do is to go to these halloween parties. It is important for these older children to have the best costume ever, but having the best costume doesn’t have to mean to lowering your moral standards to attracts the eye of the opposite sex.
When you dress up this Halloween, do so in a way that will not ruin your reputation.
