Link Crew Helps Struggling Freshmen Achieve Academic Success

Link to Success. This is not only the name of the new program introduced by Link Crew this year, but it is also exactly what Link Crew leaders are doing by helping their underclassmen who are struggling with some of their classes.

The aim of Link to Success is to aid freshmen, who are failing two or more classes, by tutoring them and helping them understand the material where there may be some confusion.

Regardless of what class they are having trouble with, Link Crew Leaders are working hard to help their fellow peers get back on track with their classes.

Last week’s 2nd period tutorial marked the official first meeting for this new program, and they will continue to have these meetings during tutorials where these freshmen can better their chances of achieving their academic goals.

As students arrived both Link Crew leaders and freshmen checked in and received name tags in order for everyone to familiarize themselves with each other. They then proceeded to meet up with their assigned groups and played some games to get to know each other.

This first meeting was more of an introduction than a tutoring session because it is important for the students to build a relationship with each other.

All of the Link Crew leaders are very enthusiastic about the opportunity they have to help these students and mentor them, and they strongly believe that academic success plays a key role in their future.

“I’m excited to help these freshmen to get them back on track and be successful in high school because  they’ll learn by senior year the more successful you are the more opportunities are open to you for the future” Claire Taylor (12).

Since all the link crew leaders are upperclassmen they are able to share their advice and experiences with these freshmen.
“I just hope they are inspired to do well throughout school and throughout high school because  it really makes a difference when it come down to like graduating and applying for colleges and yeah it’s really nice having good grades when you need them” Kylee Spooner (12).
