Thespian Society Collects Cans for Kids

A variety of donated foods lie in wait to be gifted to those in need of their use. The Thespian Society has organized volunteers to distribute this culinary goodness as needed.

Trick-or-treating goes beyond seeing who can gain the most candy.

The Thespian Society has hosted a month long challenge to gain 10,000 pounds of canned, non-perishable foods to give back to the community. The Thespian Society is  “an honors society for people in theatre arts and actors,” as Cambria Beilstein, the drama adviser at San Juan Hills High School explains it.

They had accepted all canned foods as donations. Donated pet food were sent to local animal shelters and canned food were  distributed through different organizations.

Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Tesoro, and San Juan Hills High School teamed up to compete nationally. Together they have contributed more pounds of food than any other team in California. San Juan Hills Troupe 7303 donated 6,664 pounds of canned food.

“I hope everyone will participate” said Cambria Beilstein, especially because its going back to the local community. She wants to see the “winning school awarded with bragging rights.”

ASB awarded the winning class a Krispy Kreme donut party, and everyone who brought in 10 cans to any football game received a free ticket for the November 7th  Glow Dance.
