SJHHS drama department is ready to bring the year to a close with the annual “Pony Awards” on Tuesday June 17 after completing various class plays as well as on stage productions of “The Trouble With Summer People” and “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying”.

Awards in acting as well as stagecraft and technical assistance will be granted for students’ outstanding performances and achievements on stage. Custom trophies recognizing best actors, technicians, and other functions in theatrical production are being made for the ceremony.

“It’s essentially the Tony Awards of high school theater, and it will recognize all branches of the drama department including actors, technicians, and other stagecraft members,” said Chase Robinson (11), member of the drama program.

The awards ceremony will recognize all levels and classes in the department, from Drama 1 through Advanced Acting.

The drama department will also announce the drama council for the 2014-2015 school year. Each year the drama council is responsible for planning and coordinating certain events throughout the year and they ensure that everything runs smoothly.
