Valentine’s Day is on its way and while you either love it or you don’t, ceramics is determined to grace the campus with their handiwork of carefully molded clay hearts. A number of ceramics students have put their creations out to be sold in efforts to raise money for the Art Department.
“It’s going to buy us paint, glaze, drawing instruments, and paper. Basically because art costs a lot of money. We’re just trying to refill our pantry,” say Jan Colt, ceramics instructor.
Students are already expressing enthusiasm toward seeing their work for sale. “They’re really pretty, they’re made by us, and you can use them as a coaster. They’re very useful,” says Jen Ramos, junior.
“They’re cute and you can use them to decorate your room or house,” says Reyna Olague, senior.
“They’re being sold [in the upper quad] the week of Valentine’s day and they will be anywhere from $1-5, depending on the size,” says Miranda Fry, senior. The department will start small through the hearts and may add other products to the sale as the week progresses.
“They’re for a good cause and to be honest, I’d rather get a little ceramic heart from someone than a card from the drugstore,” says Colt.
Whether you’re buying for your significant other or trying to buy your mother’s affection, the Art Department would appreciate your services.
