Leigh Ann Swarm is the newest assistant principal in the San Juan Hills administration team. Transferring from Esperanza High School, she brings her experience to to San Juan Hills High School.
Swarm has been in education for over twenty years, this being her first at San Juan Hills.
Graduating from Long Beach State University, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, allowing her to communicate with students and families in both English and Spanish. She holds a masters degrees in Education and Educational Administration.
As an assistant principal, Swarm stays very involved with student activities and campus events.
“I like to go to as many things as I can. Just last weekend I went to Mama Mia. It was so good it was so fun! I’ll go to sporting events and be out and about on campus. During lunch I’ll talk to different groups of kids and ask what they’re doing for the weekend,” said Swarm.
If a problem comes up she asks that students come to her whenever needed. “I think the best way is to stop by and come see me…Anytime I have an interaction with students I’ll make sure they know where my office is,” said Swarm.
Outside of school, she owns many pets, including two rescue dogs, Ziva and Scout.
“When your thinking about rescuing animals, not everyone can handle big dogs,” said Swarm.
Ziva is a Doberman German Shepherd mix while Scout is a German Shepherd American Bully mix.
In her previous career before being an assistant principal she was a restaurant manager, giving her experience in managing multiple situations.
Swarm makes a constant effort to build strong relationships with students. She provides her service when needed to those who ask it, welcoming all students to help.
“I am here to serve students and our families and staff aswell. Basically I’m here to help solve problems and make sure that our students are having the best experience they can have,” said Swarm.
