X Ambassadors go “B.I.G.” in Los Angeles
X Ambassadors rocked the Wiltern last Friday night as they came to Los Angeles for their VHS 2.0 tour.
After being together for around ten years, X Ambassadors is on their second-North American tour for their first album, VHS. On their stop in Los Angeles, they mainly played songs off their new album, but they also played some songs off of their older EPs.
They started out their energetic set by playing “Loveless” and “Hang On”. Both catchy songs that had the audience singing and clapping away.
The next few songs were more mature songs including “Love Songs Drug Songs”, “Fear”, “Unsteady”, and “Low Life”. All of the crowd sang loudly and emotionally to their newest single “Unsteady”.
The mood was lightened up with the next few songs which included “Naked” and “Nervous”. These are two songs that are truly the “unknown gems” off their album.
They ended their set with three of their most popular songs which are “Gorgeous”, “Jungle”, and their hit single “Renegades”. A brief acoustic lead-in was played before “Gorgeous” and “Renegades”. The second the first notes of “Renegades” were played, the crowd roared and sang nearly every word of it with lead singer, Sam Harris. During “Jungle” and “Renegades” smoke flew out and confetti spilled among the crowd.
Their energetic and fun set left the crowd begging and screaming for more. After a few minutes of the crowd yelling “One more song…”, the band came back out which led to even louder screams. They began to play a few solos including a saxophone solo, which all led into two of their most popular songs off of one of their EPs, “Giants” and “Unconsolable”. Both of these songs have a hip hop feel to it, but are not too fast paced.
After seeing X Ambassadors for the second time, I can now say that they are the most energetic and fun band that I have seen.
For the next month, X Ambassadors will continue on the VHS 2.0 tour bringing unforgettable shows all around the country.
X Ambassadors is coming back to Southern California on June 15th to the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
