Excitement for New Star Wars Movie Jumps to Light Speed

If you’re looking for an upcoming movie with extreme fanfare, look no further than Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which premiers on December 18.

The movie takes place 30 years after The Return of the Jedi, and continues the struggle between the Rebel Alliance, which is now known as the Resistance, and the Galactic Empire, which is now the First Order. It will feature plenty of fan favorites, like Chewbacca, played by Peter Mayhew, Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford, and Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher.

There will also be exciting new characters such as Finn, a former stormtrooper who has turned away from the First Order, Rey, who is a scavenger on the planet Jakku, and Kylo Ren, who commands the First Order. One interesting absence from the trailer is Luke Skywalker, whose face was noticeably missing, although it is rumored that he is the hooded figure who reaches out to R2-D2 with a robotic left hand

Cameron Peloso (10) was particularly intrigued by Finn and said, “He’s an interesting character and I’m excited to see him in action.”

A movie poster promoting The Force Awakens reveals the most famous weapon in the franchise in the hands of an unexpected owner. It shows Finn holding the lightsaber that was previously owned by Anakin Skywalker, and later by his son Luke Skywalker.

The Force Awakens will introduce several new planets into the Star Wars universe, including Takodana, D’Qar, Hosnian Prime, and the desert planet Jakku which was featured in the official trailer.

Han Solo´s involvement in The Force Awakens was almost cut short when a large section of the Millennium Falcon, which is the iconic ship of the cocky smuggler, fell off and landed on Harrison Ford´s leg, breaking it.

However, Ford worked to a speedy recovery and was able to perform a number of physical activities that was seen as unlikely at the time of the injury. J.J. Abrams, director of the film, was astonished at the 72 year old, saying, ¨Even for Harrison, who is famously resilient and strong, he blew everyone’s minds.¨

This is the first time that George Lucas will not be in charge of Star Wars movie, as he sold his company Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.06 billion in 2012.

Fans of the series may be pessimistic about this series considering the negative feedback of the prequels, especially The Phantomś Menace. However, Billur Foley (who wants to remain anonymous, pending) said, ¨I think that people will like this movie way more than the prequels because J.J. Abrams is directing it and I like what he did with Star Trek.¨ Abrams, who has also directed Mission: Impossible III and Super 8, has the backing of George Lucas himself, who said, ¨I´ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller.¨

As of November 20th, The Force Awakens had already amassed $50 million worth of presale tickets, which has already broken the previous record for presale tickets.
The Force Awakens is the first of a potential trilogy, and the release date of the the second movie, Episode VIII, has already been announced for May 26, 2017. John Boyega, the actor playing Finn, was optimistic when talking about meeting fans expectations, saying, ¨Thereś gonna be a reaction for sure.¨
