My Everything: The Album with Everything

Adam Grossen, Staff Writer

Grande’s musical talent first became popular in 2011 with her first hit “Put Your Hearts up” which changed peoples’ perspective of her from the little red headed girl in the popular teen TV show, “Victorious” into a girl with a very bright future in music.

A few years later, she released her latest album, “My Everything,” in August of 2014 which includes 15 songs in the deluxe iTunes edition. This album includes her latest hits such as “Break Free,” “Love Me Harder,” and “One Last Time,” all of which made it to the top hits charts of iTunes at one point or another.

Often times when popular artists release an album of this length or at the same time their hits are reaching the top charts, their other songs seem to fall short or be next to nothing in comparison to the hot tracks being released.

Amidst the mainstream tracks in the album, most, if not all, of the other songs in the album are just as great, producing the same amount of good vibes as the top tracks.  Just a few of these are “Why Try”, “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart”, “Be My Baby.”

Unlike most artists who use throw-out tracks to fill in the gap that their one-hit-wonder creates, these tracks add to the already powerful album. Grande has exceeded expectations with her album, as practically all of the tracks have variety and don’t sound the same, contrasting with albums by other popular pop artists, such as “Panda Bear vs. Grim Reaper.”

There is more to the album than just mainstream pop music, it also includes duets, ballads, and some rap with Big Sean. In my opinion, this album blew any other new alternative album out of the water. It has something for everyone, no matter what style of music you choose to listen to.
