The Dancers of San Juan Hills High School are ready for ‘Fusion’, the dance concert, on opening night on November 30 at 7:00 pm in the SJH Theater. There will also be a second show on December 1. Prices vary from $12-15 depending on where you want to sit.
Within every passionate movement on stage, they find a new meaning to dance. Dancing is an indescribable feeling to them, it has become part of who they are. The dancers have worked hard these past few weeks preparing for the Fusion Concert.
The SJH Dance Department collaborated with Aliso Niguel High School, San Clemente High School, Laguna Beach High School, as well as nearby dance studios: The Ladera Dance Academy, Pacific Ballet Conservatory, South County Dance, and Peque Ballet in the San Juan Hills Theater.
“We decided to work with local dance studios to give the dancers more exposure, and share our stage with others” said Kristine Calder, Dance Department Advisor. She emphasizes why she came up with the idea of sharing the stage along with the spotlight.
Dancers from Advanced Dance Production, Intermediate Dance Production, and Beginning Intermediate class will be performing. Madeline Hunstein and Greyson Hanson will be two of SJHs’ solo performers.
Greyson Hanson will be dancing to a slow pace classical piece that evolves into a fast-moving dance. He began dancing at age 9 with the support of his mother that now designs the costumes for SJH dance department.
In order to be considered for a solo performance, dancers had to be a part of SJH Dance Production class and audition for a spot in the concert. A diverse audience is expected as a result of different genres, which generates more fans.
