April 15, 2015
Graphic Design Technology is a Fine Art elective credit offered at SJHHS. This class is taught by Mr.Carlson during third, fourth, fifth, and sixth period. He also has an after school class on Mondays and Wednesday from 3:45 to 6:15.
In Graphic Design, students will learn the design principles necessary for publication designs, mass distribution, and other form of visual art like book and CD cover designs, clothing, posters, ads for magazines and newspapers.
“Graphic design has helped bring my designs to life from paper to clothing items and stickers. It’s a great ROP class to take and theres never any homework which is awesome,” said Lily Bambouyani (12).
The course is designed to help develop students’ artistic skills to advance them into the field of graphic design.
“I like it a lot, at the beginning of the year I didn’t really know anything about silk screening (graphic design) but Mr. Carlson is a really good teacher and I have learned a lot. It’s a fun hobby to do, even when I am done with this class it’s still something I am interested in doing after high school,” said Christian Lybarger (12).
The class also teaches you how to use Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
“Learning how to use Photoshop and Illustrator in this class inspired me to advance my skills in digital art. And then using the classroom equipment, I could print the art on shirt or bag and wear it which is pretty sick,” said Ellie Holt (12).
Students who want to develop their art skills and create amazing products should take Graphic design; it is a great way express yourself and start a creative business.
