Despite significant setbacks including four consecutive years with different coaches, SJHHS Varsity Boys Volleyball has pulled through and experienced one of the most successful seasons in the school’s history.

The team currently stands undefeated this season, and they have continuously claimed victories over other teams in the league. In a recent game on March 25, SJHHS defeated Laguna Hills High School with scores of 32-30, 26-24, and 25-20.

“We won our first league game last night [March 25] against Laguna, we swept them, so we’re on track to win league again like we did last year,” said captain Logan Zotovich (12).

This year marks the fourth year in a row that the SJHHS team has switched coaches. However even amidst the confusion and constant change, the boys have remained a family and continue to push each other to work harder each day which ultimately leads them to greater successes and accomplishments.

“We’re all seniors on Varsity this year, so that’s pretty cool that we get to play with other guys from our class and we all work really cohesively together,” said captain Ryan Schickling (12).

“The fact that we’re all seniors brings us together for a common interest, we all want to finish out our season strong and graduate together knowing how well we did as a team,” said Schickling.

As for next year and the seasons to come, this year’s full Senior Varsity team brings many questions and concerns for the future boys teams. However, Zotovich believes that the current JV team is full of many talented athletes that will continue to succeed when moved up to Varsity in the coming years. Although the teams and players for next year are not decided yet, the boys have no doubts that the program will continue to succeed and represent the Stallions.
