Stallions’ boys water polo season approaches it’s final two weeks of season and league play while currently 3-2 in the Sea View League.

The Stallions boys varsity water polo team has had it’s ups and downs. Starting off fresh with new coach Ivan Buich, who previously coached at Santa Margarita for two years, the boys were looking for new guidance.

“Coach Ivan has pushed us to be the best all year and his guidance has helped us tremendously,” said senior Brent McClain.

They started off their season strong with a non-league victory against Segerstrom High School, and would then follow up with a tough 17-3 loss to Santa Margarita.

The boys then entered into a pre-season tournament hosted by Segerstrom. It was a great chance to prepare for the season to come and to get some wins.

Playing five games, the boys went 2-3 in the tournament with victories from Kennedy High School and Downey High School.

With a 10 day break, the boys were finally upon league.

Their first match-up was against Trabuco High School. A tight game resulting in a 10-7 loss to SJHHS put the boys already down a game in league.

The following game resulted in the first league win for the boys with a 12-9 win against Laguna Hills. A tough double overtime loss to Tesoro and then a 10-5 win over Mission Viejo put the Stallions at an even 2-2 record.

“We’ve had a couple of tough losses but all in all we have been playing really well and playing for each other,” said senior Austin Silveria.

A huge 9-8 win against Tesoro on Thursday puts the team 3-2 with the final three league games to come.
